Shane vs Bob Norster vs Clement vs Iuean vs Jack Matthews vs Rev Alban Davies - the mass debate rears it's ugly head...
Now, someone has suggested the idea for this blog to me but has requested they remain anonymous. For reasons that will become clear as this develops.
The Official Player of the Tournament is, as far as I’m aware, a recent thing. I can’t actually recall such a thing existing before it became the 6N. I suspect that it was only post-95-professionalism that such an award would have gained ‘official’ status. (Like so many things – the Triple Crown plate ((which doesn’t, obviously but bizarrely, have any visible crowns on it)), the Blue-bottled Man of the Match award, the Mickey Windsor-Mouse cup played for between Awstralia a Chymru ((which, if we had possession of before drawing with The Crims the other year, why didn’t we keep it until we played them next again?)) and, well, erm, Other Things, like so many things-new-fangled it takes a little getting used to.) I have to keep reminding myself that, at some point, the Calcutta Cup was some Johnny-Come-Lately Fad. And so will become all of the above, I’m sure…
And while I’m about it, I have been lying awake worrying about the ELV’s currently being trialled in SA and NZ (see this link to see explanatory videos from NZ Refs) Oddly enough, I’ve come to the conclusion that because I have retired from the game, I have relinquished my right to pass judgement on changes to the game. or, at least, forgone the right to be so vitriolic about them. Perhaps. Having had a bit more of a think/look at the blasted things, I think I would have enjoyed playing under the new laws. Alternatively, I could just carry on raving at Perceived Injustices to My Game. Hmmm…
(COO-EEE! Earth Calling Wilbach, Earth to Wilbach. Come home - you've left the blog kettle on, again. Over. He's off again. Fffufff. - Ed)
Right, but back to this blog idea from Anonymous:
Has Any Player Had A Better Season For Wales than Old Liability a.k.a. Shane Williams?
Martyn Williams – 2005 (or any season since ’96);
Quinnell’s first season (I think it was ‘93/94);
Clement – 1989 (I think it may have been ’88);
Norster – 1988 (may have been earlier…)
I would love it if you, dear reader, could take a few seconds to post a comment with your thoughts. It is ever so easy to do – none of this ‘sign-up, register-in, log-on, sod-off’ malarkey you find with Other Rival Blogs or Forums (er, seeing as you are a pedant, Wilbach, should that not read ‘fora’? - Ed.).

If anyone suggests Roger Bidgood (not pictured [anywhere, bless him], but guess who the little chap on the right is) and includes their postal address I will send them a free magazine*.
