Have proven their true worth yet again.
Yup, Wales did the usual thing and bombed. And The Mighty All Blacks did their usual thing and, erm, well, bombed as well. Just a little bit later than we do.
What a splendid World Cup it has been (despite the Welsh farago)!
I have enjoyed this so much and really wish I had the time to blog, blog, blog, but, with the Darling Little Ruby around to stare at for hours on end, I just haven’t had the time.
Sorry!
So. Briefly (Eh?! Ed)
• Ruby has put on nearly a whole pound!
• She is sleeping for nearly 4 hours at a stretch.
• She doesn’t like sleeping between 11pm and 3am.
• The Wife is getting back some of her former colour.
• Work is very odd after all the excitement of Having One’s Life Changed.
• The Wife made me stand on the scales to prove that they were working and that she is down to a weight lower than when she got preggers.
• She is delighted whereas I am now despondent and convinced I am clinically obese.
• We have been overwhelmed with the generosity and kindness of friends, family, colleagues and all, really, with gifts, good wishes and cards abounding.
• The RWC has been brilliant and, while I may miss the live stuff, with Ruby’s sleep patterns being what they are, I have been enjoying the highlights package, midnight to 1.
• France were mediocre yet NZ were truly bloody awful.
• Do we want Henry and Hansen? We can ‘ave ‘em, I imagine. It hardly seems worth their while getting on the plane home. The NZRFU could save themselves the plane fares by just leaving them here.
• It was really pleasing to see Barnes the Ref having a stormer and picking up on the little 'cheats/gamesmanships' that usually give the AB’s yet more of an edge…
• SA shouldn’t complain about any high tackles or off the ball laties from Fiji – they have Schalk and Butch ‘CheapShot’ James playing for them…
• Fiji have been brilliant. Bless them and give them some dosh, for Gawd’s Sake!
The two things I have enjoyed most so far, away from the actual rugby in this RWC:
The Georgian coach being asked if he thought his players were tough enough to play World Cup Rugby.
‘We have been at war in my country for over two thousand years. What do YOU think?’
And, The Fields of Athenry ringing out louder than any partisan singing in the Fr v NZ qrtr. Never mind – Ireland are in a worse state than us.
Cheers.
