cuff reconstruction and double breasting

messy in there, wil, it wasWell, it is done.

Tuesday 19th: What a day. 6 o’clock in the morning up and showered. On the phone to CAVOC ward, Llandough by half past; 3 sharpish visits to the toilet (one of them to splash a rather vigorous stream of urine into and then straight out of, a sample bottle. Perhaps I should have let the pressure drop a bit first…) a rather anxious scamper around the poorly signed grounds and corridors of the hospital and then up the stairs to the ward.

A rush into the 6 bedder, a few checks and questions then, paper pants on, surgeon scribbles on my hand and whoosh! In goes the sleepy juice…

It is a hackneyed phrase, I know, but I have only praise for all the staff in the CAVOC. They were caring, efficient, humorous, gentle and prompt. Spot on.

The surgeon, Geoff ‘Shoulder’ Graham is a marvel. Ask about 12 of the NSO's this last year alone…

Superb.

Now, the frustration for me lies here: I have the time, the inclination and even the stories to tell for the blog; the only thing I don’t have is the ability to type the bludi thing. I have never been the quickest typist (hunt and peck approach to keyboard skills) even with two hands. Halve the strike force and, by the time I have finally typed a word, I have lost:
• the context
• the flow
• several hours
• bladder control

So, I fear I shall have to limit my epic and uproariously amusing contributions in length and frequency (jolly good – ed.). Perhaps little and often...

Suffice to say, moistened toilet tissue isn’t as good in reality as in theory.

PLEASE, ANYONE OUT THERE, POST A COMMENT TO HELP KEEP ME SANE! I AM GOING A LITTLE WOO-WOOO-STIR CRAZY ALREADY

Pull yourself together young man.Now is the time to learn left hand typing. You will be astonished at how much you can improve with practice. I dont think that your world wide base of (couldn't make this word out 'agens') could surive the occasional brief jotting. we need you in full flow for when Wales wins the world Cup
wilbach says - have now mastered LH bum wipe, toothbrushing, picking nose and texting (the essentials), but am really struggling with using scissors, stirring food and doing my flies up (secondaries). Shall try harder. Ta!

Hi Wilbach, I had the same op, same ward, same day, same double breasting and cuff. I was lucky to have such a cool (and slightly insane) team of wounded around me. Having chatted to you and the others, I have decided not to take up motorcycling or rugby anytime soon. I was just searching for an address on Google to send a thank you letter to CAVOC and I found this post. Really looking forward to dumping the sling and getting some sleep. Best of luck with your recovery. See you, Jon
wilbach is abso-bloody-lutely delighted that you are in touch! Hey, mate - thanks so much for being there and being so much fun! It made all the difference to have someone going through the same thing. How goes it? Mine is getting on ok but aches, and itches like crazy! It was a really good atmosphere on the ward, yes? I thought it was just me but glad you think the same. I have two more blog entries in the pipeline about you and the ACL chap (Richard?) and the others - it was an entertaining time! And, as you shall say you will avoid the above activities, I fear I shall be gving the paragliding a miss, too! Cheers mate. Stay in touch, yeah? Yeah!
