Four out of Five and Help Needed

Posted by wilbach on April 8, 2007 8:52 PM |

before shane, arwel was the youngest capped player for wales at 12 years, 124 days 14 hours. bless him. Big Col has dropped a shard of very irritating mental swarf into my pot of otherwise fragrant and balm-like swarfega this weekend.

He texted me with this, Friday.

Bowring’s Babes – do u remember them? 95. am sure ther was 5 o dem… quinnell was one. Da others were?

Now, look. Someone out there, PLEASE – is it beyond the realms of possibility to have a website that has, fixture by fixture, the welsh teams and the result? I think it would make a great site – especially if, in the manner of Wikipedia, the match report and thoughts could be edited by saddohs/fans/anoraks like me and Big Col.

Wouldn’t this be a good idea?

I think it should be found at www.##############.co.uk (and I have yet to register that, so get in pretty quick if you want it). I would LOVE it. It could even have a section for each player that could include a brief ‘webwritten™’ history and salacious and highly dubious-but-amusing/shocking/sexuallyexplicit anecdotes.

Bludi Superb Idea. Even if I say so my-wonderful-self. Aye.

I am far too: inept; busy; lacking in memory; technically bereft to do it but would happily contribute vigorously (in a non-financial manner) if someone did kick it off.

DO IT, SOMEONE, DO IT!

So far, BC, has called it down to:

babe?!
Matthew Wintle
Craig Quinnell
Arwel Thomas
Gwyn Jones…

And ONEMORE!! PLEASEHELPUSBEFOREWEGOTTOTALLYBARKING???!!!

Bowrings babes... Arwel (or should i say ah well..) sorry Col, i know he's your mate but he sucked!! big time. Gwyn Jones, Justin Thomas ??? This is starting to read more like 'the curse of Bowrings babes'!! Can't remember the others, but i'm sure they were all crap, except Gwyn bless him.
wilbach apologises - Ti, sorry, but i have only just found your comment in the junk file thingy. Justin Thomas!!? Dear Sweet Lord, it could be! Many Thanks!

Was it Gareth Thomas? I think Alfie made his debut in 95 against Japan.
Wilbach says - I thought that as well. And Daf James was about the same era, too... It is all so frustrating - not being able to find the definative answer! Ta. Keep the comments and ideas coming, Welsh Bob.

Did this ever get resolved? Was the missing link Justin Thomas? Hate loose ends!

Wilbach says (rather ashamedly) - I am waiting on two possible leads to give a definative answer to this- Gwyn Jones (via a beeb contact) and Bowring himself (via a very tenuous connection) !? I shall keep you posted. you are not alone in this...
