What did Mike Teague have more of?

My Wife and I went on a lovely sponsored walk today. Round Roath Park Lake for Crocus Cancer charity. The exercise did a group of us good but the shock of an 11 o'clock start still hasn't left my system.

I LOVE Saturdays, really, really love 'em. A lazy breakfast, chores and a spot of commando shopping (male shopping; in, out - maximum damage, minimum time on the ground) followed by rugby. Watching live, playing, watching on TV or even just perusing sites on the 'puter. Bliss.

I look back more these days than I ought to - I mean, I'm still in my 30's - and wonder how I managed. My brother used to post me (in an envelope, with a stamp and handwriting and EVERYTHING) the week's Gren cartoons and clippings from the back of the Echo when I was in Film School in Bournemouth, masquerading as someone who had an idea of what the hell was going on.

A year later, I remember waking very early and slipping out of bed so as not to wake the girlfriend, and climbing into bed with my brother Julian to watch the Lions in Australia. Years ago this was. Robert Jones started one of the best fights I've ever seen in international rugby... ROBERT JONES?! I seem to recall Mike Teague steaming in to batter anything that moved. Anyway, Julian and I were jumping up and down on his bed at the end of the game when my girlfriend walked in. I wore pyjamas for the rest of the year and my brother wouldn't speak to her for embarrassment. Ah, great days.

Shane has joined the Greats of Welsh Rugby. That sentence is proof - you knew who I was talking about and I only used his first name. In the summer touch leagues there used to be a team called 'Ben Who?' As JD said 'Arrogant git.' I hope Ronan O'Gara enjoys the ribbing he will get for being boshed by The Mighty Shane.

Mike Teague had six toes on each foot, y'know. Big Boots.
